The Best Quick and Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe

A Cookbook Favorite!

Cooking and baking are two of my favorite hobbies, and it’s something I’m truly passionate about. This cheesy garlic bread recipe is one that I’ve made so many times, I could probably do it with my eyes closed at this point!

Don’t worry, I’m not going to bore you with some long personal story you need to scroll through to find the recipe that brought you here. Instead I’ll keep my intro short, sweet, and to the point!

One of my best friends Mandy taught me this recipe back when we were college roommates. It immediately became one of my favorites for three main reasons:

  1. It’s freakin’ delicious!!! (not surprising, since it’s basically just carbs, cheese and butter)
  2. It’s Incredibly fast and easy to make!
  3. It’s budget friendly! (hence college food)

When my husband and I (the laborer) got married, we rented a large VRBO for the weekend so we could spend some quality time with our siblings. The first night at the “sibling house” we decided to make a big spaghetti dinner, mostly because it’s an easy meal to make for a large group of people (who doesn’t like spaghetti, right?).

My brother’s girlfriend, @jettingjulia is a travel vlogger, and she posted a video of us making this spaghetti dinner on her youtube channel. Ever since, I have had people asking me for this garlic bread recipe!

I have been wanting to expand The Bonus Space to include cooking and baking recipes for a while. So, I thought what better way to kick off The Bonus Cookbook than with an oldie but goodie?

Enjoy!

  4. Cover bread face with a thick layer of spreadable butter (don’t be shy, lather it on there!) Season buttered bread with garlic salt, and an even layer of minced garlic.

  5. Cover each loaf half with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese (again, don’t be shy! Pile it on there!). Season with more garlic salt, basil, oregano, and paprika.

  6. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bread is crispy.

This cheesy garlic bread is a great addition to your favorite Italian dishes, or my personal favorite – Easy to Make Melt-in-Your-Mouth Instant Pot Meatballs!

also pairs great with a nice glass of wine, but that’s just a suggestion…

The Bonus Cookbook

For those who are interested to see how I made this recipe, here’s some bonus info and a few extra photos to help you out!

I wouldn’t say this recipe is an exact science, most of the time I tend to just wing it. But the Ingredients are pretty straight forward, and you can adjust the quantities to your own taste preferences.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large loaf of French bread (I use the one you find at just about every grocery store bakery)
  • 6 tbsp (or more) Spreadable butter
  • 4 tbsp (or more) Minced garlic (fresh or canned)
  • 2 cups (or more) Shredded Mozzarella
  • 1 cup (or more) Shredded Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp (ish) Garlic Salt
  • 2 tbsp (ish) Oregano (fresh or dried)
  • 2 tbsp (ish) Basil (fresh or dried)
  • 2 tbsp (ish) Paprika

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a large baking sheet with tinfoil to prevent any dripping cheese from making a mess of your oven.

Cut your french loaf in half (like you would if you were making a giant sandwich), and place the two bread halves cut side up on on your lined baking sheet.

Next, cover both bread faces with a thick layer of spreadable butter. You can use regular softened butter if you prefer.

Don’t be shy! Lather it on there!!!
It should look something like this when you’re done… I know, not the healthiest recipe.
Sorry not sorry!

Season with garlic salt, and spread an even layer of minced garlic over your bread halves.

MMMMMMM…. Tasty buttery garlic goodness!

Cover each loaf half with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Again, don’t be shy! Pile it on there! If you were looking for a diet friendly recipe, I’m sorry, you’ve come to the wrong place!

I’m a big believer that there’s no such thing as too much cheese!

Season the cheese with more garlic salt, basil, oregano, and paprika.

It may look over-seasoned before you bake it, but it will all come together in the oven.
Trust me!

Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bread is crispy!

NOMMMMM!!!!!

Cut loaves to make garlic bread strips.

Serve immediately, and enjoy!

This cheesy garlic bread is a great addition to your favorite Italian dishes, or as I mentioned earlier, my Melt-in-Your-Mouth Instant Pot Meatballs. (and wine! Don’t forget the wine!)

Tasty, inexpensive, quick, and easy to make! A crowd pleaser for both kids and adults alike, this garlic bread is sure to be a hit at your next party or family dinner!

Cheers!

Leftovers? No Problem!

Lucky you! Leftovers can be stored at room temperature, or in the fridge to be reheated later!

*or if you’re weird like me and enjoy cold pizza, they’re great cold or at room temperature for a quick snack!
